Awe in the every day
Awe in the every day
by Rev. Kerry Smith
Easter was glorious at White Rock UMC! I have never seen people sitting in the balcony at White Rock UMC, but they were on Easter! The Easter Fest on Sunday morning was wonderful and I’m so thankful for the leadership of our Minister of Children, Youth, and Families, Sammy Waters, and her team. I loved seeing people trying to fly kites and kids filling their Easter baskets. I want to celebrate that we had more people here on Easter than the last year. We had more people here on Maundy Thursday this year than the last year. We had more people here on Good Friday this year than last year. White Rock is on the move and I’m so thankful for the growth in this place. God is good!
The joy of Easter continues because we are Easter people. We are Easter people because our identity is shaped by the idea that goodness is stronger than evil, love is stronger than hate, light is stronger than darkness, life is stronger than death. We believe that God is constantly making all things new. We find meaning not in what we own or what we earn, but in how we reach out to one another in love and in service. It is hope transformed into action.
Sunday we been a new worship series called Awe in the every day. I want to challenge us during the great fifty days of Easter to open our eyes to see how God is at work in our world. How can we find awe every single day? How can we be reminded that God is at work and partner with God in sharing love and light with everyone that we encounter? I’m so thankful for you and honored to be in ministry with you.
