We Believe
God loves us and all of creation more than we can ever understand, and God calls on us to act with love and service
toward everyone we meet.
God's grace is available to everyone before, during,
and after our lives here on earth.
God is full of mystery yet is intensely personal.
God created all things, God came to live with us in the person of Jesus, and God's Spirit continues to live among and inside us today.
We gain a more intimate understanding of God's grace manifested through community through the sacraments of baptism and Holy Communion. Baptism is a symbol of transformation and is available to people of all ages. Holy Communion is open to all who desire to encounter the risen Christ, regardless of whether they are members of White Rock UMC or members of any church.
The Holy Spirit calls all people to be in ministry,
serve in worship, and care for the community.
As a diverse community, our relationship with scripture is complicated. Some in our community believe scripture to be infallible, while others believe it to be utterly dependent on human context. We think scripture is to be wrestled within the context of our traditions, experiences,
and ability to reason. We welcome questions.
Our faith requires both a personal relationship with God and a call to bring real change and transformation to the world we encounter.
