Rev. Kerry Smith

SENIOR PASTOR
Kerry Smith was born in Houston and attended Trinity University majoring in Religion. She taught English in Japan with the JET Program and then attended Perkins School of Theology at SMU.  After receiving her Masters in Divinity, Kerry was the pastor for three churches in Basildon, England from 2001-2002 and as a Senior Pastor at Krum UMC for the four years following.
Kerry has worked as a Pastor in the United Methodist Church since 1997 and was ordained as an Elder in 2006. Kerry served as Executive Pastor at Oak Lawn UMC for five years, and Pastor at Greenland Hills UMC for nine years before being appointed to White Rock UMC in 2022.
Kerry has a passion for people and enjoys hearing how God is at work in people’s lives.  Having grown up in the church she values the family and the community that is found in a church home.  Growing up, the church was a safe place for Kerry, a place where she was loved and accepted.  Kerry hopes that all people who come through the doors of White Rock UMC are able to experience that same feeling of welcome, acceptance, and love that helped her to experience and know God’s love for herself.  Kerry loves being a pastor and feels blessed that God has called her to walk alongside people as they journey in faith.
Kerry is married to Lee and they have two children, Madeleine and Everett, and a dog Lilly.  Kerry enjoys walking and has walked in the Komen 3-day for the Cure with her mom for many years.  Kerry is active in her neighborhood book club, Boy Scout Troop 890, and the CISV board (Children’s International Summer Village – promoting global friendships). Kerry recently completed her last spring as the Girl Scout cookie mom for her daughter’s troop after twelve years. Kerry loves reading, sitting outside, riding her bike around White Rock Lake, and binge-watching the latest season of The Great British Bake Off with Lee.
