Magnum Mysterium
Now God is Mystery most incredible
The psalmists to the future speak poetry
Journal thoughts and metered verse
Now God is Companion most trustworthy
The cardinal to the wind speaks red and song
Bright flash of color, sweet call in the tree
Now God is Beauty most delicate
The breath to the body speaks wisdom
Cadence, rhythm, surety
Now God is Life most fundamental
The Sacraments to the Church speak ritual
Bread, juice, water
Now God is Presence most real
You and I to each other speak theology
Big words, important thoughts
Still God is just beyond our pen and ink…
