Sand Branch

What can you do to help Sand Branch?

1. Write to your Dallas County Official

Here is a suggested script, but you can also create your own.

Dear [Official's Name],
I am writing as a concerned North Texas resident and supporter of the families of Sand Branch, a historic freedmen's
community in unincorporated Dallas County that still does not have municipal running water and sewer service.

I am asking you to support a three-stage solution that protects residents now while completing the permanent solution:
1. Immediate - $300,000: expand the Water for Sand Branch Coalition's Clean Water Bridge Project to 60 residences.
2. Medium term - $240,000: fund the Coalition's Community Water Production & Emergency Resilience System
designed to serve all 94 Sand Branch households and strengthen fire protection and emergency response.
3. Long term - permanent water and sewer: advance the Ken Wright Infrastructure Bond proposal before Dallas County
leadership so Sand Branch can receive the permanent municipal water and sanitary sewer infrastructure residents have
waited decades to receive.

These projects should work together. The Clean Water Bridge provides household-level relief. The $240,000 community
system provides broader water production, storage, distribution and emergency resilience. The infrastructure bond is the
path to the final permanent water and sewer solution.

Access to safe water is a matter of health, dignity and public safety. I respectfully ask you to work with residents, the
Water for Sand Branch Coalition, Dallas County, the City of Dallas, Dallas Water Utilities and community partners to
move these solutions forward.

Please help bring safe water to Sand Branch now and permanent infrastructure to Sand Branch for generations to come.
Thank you for your service and your attention to this urgent issue.
Sincerely,
